A Legacy of Excellence: The Gracies Celebrate 50 Years of Honoring Women Who Shape the World Through Media
The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) proudly unveils the winners of the 50th Annual Gracie Awards, celebrating five decades of amplifying women’s voices, stories, and achievements in media. This landmark anniversary marks not only a reflection on past trailblazers but also a declaration of the continued power of women shaping the cultural and media landscape.
“I am especially honored to receive this award, not only because the Gracies (named for icon and legend Gracie Allen) have been acknowledging groundbreaking women in media for half a century, but particularly because this is the first year audiobooks have been given two categories—fiction and nonfiction narrator. The icing on the cake is that it’s for @kristinhannahauthor beautiful book, which among myriad other things, is very much about the all too often overlooked contributions of women.”
Dubbed “The Adele of Audiobooks” by The New Yorker, Julia Whelan is an actor, audiobook narrator of over 600 titles and award-winning author of My Oxford Year (soon to be a Netflix movie), Thank You For Listening and Casanova LLC. In 2024, she launched her own audio publishing company and app, Audiobrary.com, which seeks to create a sustainable future for human storytelling. Whelan appeared at the 2025 Festival.
